After Class Eleven - Group Seven

Hard to believe next week is our last class.  I've really enjoyed meeting all of you and found our discussions lively, informative and a lot of fun.  I wish you all the best of luck.

For next class, we will take a look at an article that will help us do a review of the semester.  I'll also pass out self-evaluations connected to class participation.  We probably won't go the full time.

On this prompt, please give Group Seven your feedback on their presentation.

After Class Ten - Group Four

Many thanks to our warm up group today who led us through some stretching exercises.  We also had three more Lesson Presentations today.  Please post feedback on this prompt for Group Four (Social Determinants of Health - Katherine, Alicia & Erin), and scroll down to see where to post feedback for the other two groups.
A reminder that the blogs/reading logs are due next week.  You should have 9 entries after the introductory posting.  Please e-mail me your total blog/log in one Word document.  Besides your feedback for the groups, please share some of your thoughts on how your Personal Health Plan went this semester; i.e., your successes, any challenges, and how you might implement this activity in an educational setting.

After Class Nine - Group 1

Thanks again to our warm up group and their stretching exercises.  Today we started our Lesson Presentations.  Thanks to everyone who presented today for getting us off to a good start.
Please post your feedback on this and the two prompts below, one for each group.  You can comment on their ideas, activities and rationales as well as ask questions and offer suggestions.  For the presenters, you can respond to feedback in your reflections which will be due the week after the presentations.  Please comment on all the groups except your own.  We will do the same thing for every group over the next three weeks.
We also had a look at two articles on the ideas of Ivan Illich and Medical Nemesis.  I've found a great website that hosts educational documentaries, and if you would still like to see Food Matters, it is under "Health" at  Top Documentaries  This site is an amazing resource for educators!
Have a great week.

After Class Eight

Thanks once again to our group who led us through the warm up.  (I'll have to work on those push-ups a bit longer.)  Today we looked at two lessons related to teaching health issues, "Empowered Decision-Making" and "Helping Students Process Stress Through Writing to Literary Characters".  We had some fun making collages that represented health topics.
Our group presentations begin next week.  Also, a reminder that the blogs/reading logs will be due before class on Nov. 28.  Please e-mail me all the postings in one Word document.  (After the introductory blog, you should have 9 entries.)
Enjoy the long weekend.

After Class Seven

Our thanks to the group who led us in some relaxation methods.  Today in class we covered some teaching techniques and looked at how to develop a lesson plan.  We had a chance to practice creating a lesson with Highlights magazines.  We also formed our groups for the Lesson Presentations and signed up for our dates.
**Reminder:  the Research paper is due next week, Nov. 7.  Please e-mail your paper before class.  Also for next time, please bring in some old magazines for an activity.
For the blog this week, write the next installment of your Personal Health narrative.  Tell us how it's going and what progress or obstacles you've encountered.
See you next week.
